Cone Surface Area Calculator
Calculate the lateral, base, and total surface area of a right circular cone from its radius and height.

What this calculator finds
A right circular cone’s total surface area is the sum of its circular base and its curved (lateral) side. This calculator gives you both pieces and the combined total from just the base radius and the height.
The formula
First the slant height is found using the Pythagorean theorem: l = √(r² + h²). The lateral surface area is then πrl, the base area is πr², and total surface area is πr(r + l).
- r is the base radius
- h is the vertical height
- l is the slant height (the distance from the base edge to the apex along the surface)
