What is burn rate?
Burn rate is how quickly a company spends its cash reserves. Gross burn is total monthly spending; net burn subtracts any revenue coming in, giving a truer picture of how fast cash is actually shrinking.
How this calculator works
Enter your current cash on hand, average monthly expenses, and average monthly revenue. Net burn is calculated as expenses minus revenue, and runway is your cash on hand divided by net burn — the number of months you can keep operating at the current pace before running out of cash.
If revenue exceeds expenses, net burn is zero or negative and runway is effectively unlimited. This tool is for general business planning purposes and does not account for lumpy expenses, seasonality, or future funding.
