What is the Bradford Factor?
The Bradford Factor is an HR metric used to highlight the impact of frequent, short, unplanned absences, which tend to be more disruptive to a workplace than a single long absence of the same total length.
How this calculator works
Enter the number of separate absence instances (spells) an employee had over the measurement period, typically a rolling 52 weeks, and the total number of days absent. The calculator applies the standard formula: Bradford Factor = SĀ² x D, where S is the number of instances and D is total days absent.
