Desk Height Calculator

Enter your height to get quick ergonomic recommendations for your sitting desk, standing desk, and chair seat height.

How this calculator works

Ergonomic guidelines size a desk and chair around your body proportions rather than a single fixed height. This calculator applies commonly used ergonomic ratios: a seated work surface at roughly 45% of your standing height, a standing-desk surface at roughly 65% of your height, and a chair seat at roughly 23% of your height (measured to the floor).

Why it matters

A desk that’s too high forces your shoulders up and strains your neck; one that’s too low hunches your back. These ratios give a solid starting point that keeps your elbows near a 90-100 degree angle and your wrists straight while typing.

These figures are general estimates for planning purposes. Fine-tune the final height using an adjustable desk or a monitor riser, and adjust for footwear, chair cushioning, and personal comfort.
