What this calculator does
This calculator gives a quick estimate of how many student desks fit in a classroom of a given size, while leaving walking space between desks.
How the calculation works
The room width is divided by the desk width plus the aisle spacing to get the number of desk columns, and the room length is divided by the desk depth plus the aisle spacing to get the number of rows. Multiplying columns by rows gives the total desk count, and both results are rounded down since you can’t fit a partial column or row.
This is a simplified planning estimate for general layout purposes. It doesn’t account for doors, teacher space, walkways to exits, or irregular room shapes, so always confirm with an on-site measurement and any applicable fire-code clearance rules.
