๐งช BUN Creatinine Ratio Calculator
Calculate the ratio between blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and serum creatinine, a value often reviewed alongside kidney function lab results.
How the ratio is calculated
The BUN to creatinine ratio is calculated by simply dividing blood urea nitrogen (BUN) by serum creatinine, both measured in mg/dL: Ratio = BUN / Creatinine.
What the ratio is used for
A typical reference range is roughly 10:1 to 20:1. A ratio above this range can suggest reduced blood flow to the kidneys, dehydration, high protein intake, or gastrointestinal bleeding, while a ratio below this range can be associated with liver disease, malnutrition, or certain kidney conditions. Interpretation always depends on the individual clinical picture.
