What this calculator does
This tool estimates field work capacity using the standard agricultural formula: acres per hour = (implement width in feet × travel speed in mph) ÷ 8.25. The constant 8.25 converts feet and mph into acres per hour (one acre equals 43,560 square feet, and there are 5,280 feet in a mile).
Why field efficiency matters
The theoretical rate assumes the implement is working at full width and speed 100% of the time, which never happens in practice. Field efficiency accounts for turning at row ends, overlap between passes, refilling or unloading, and minor stops. A typical field efficiency for tillage or planting equipment is 70-85%, while efficiency for combines or sprayers can vary more widely.
