What is absence percentage?

Absence percentage (or absence rate) is a common HR metric that measures the proportion of scheduled work time an employee or team missed over a given period, helping managers spot attendance trends.

The formula

Absence Rate (%) = (Days Absent / Total Scheduled Work Days) × 100. The complement of this figure is the attendance rate, shown alongside it.

This calculator is for general HR planning and educational purposes. It does not account for excused versus unexcused absences, which some policies treat differently.
