What a projectile trajectory is

A trajectory is the curved path a launched object follows under the influence of gravity, shaped by its launch velocity, launch angle, and starting height. It is parabolic when air resistance is ignored.

The formulas used

This calculator splits launch velocity into horizontal (v·cosθ) and vertical (v·sinθ) components, solves for total flight time including any launch height, and computes both the horizontal range and the maximum height reached at the peak of the arc.

Air resistance is ignored and gravity is taken as 9.81 m/s². These results describe idealized motion and are intended for general physics education purposes.
