🚿 Tap Water Calculator
Estimate how much water and money a running tap uses each day and year, based on the flow rate, how long it runs, and your water rate.
What this calculator does
Everyday tap use — brushing teeth, washing hands, rinsing dishes, waiting for water to warm up — adds up over a year even though each instance feels small. This calculator multiplies the tap’s flow rate by how long it typically runs each day and by the number of people in the household to estimate total water use.
The formula
Liters per day = flow rate (L/min) × minutes per day × number of people. That figure is scaled to a full year, converted to gallons, and multiplied by your local water rate to estimate the yearly cost.
A standard bathroom tap typically flows at around 6-10 liters per minute; check your fixture’s rated flow if you want a more precise figure. This tool gives a general household planning estimate and does not include water heating energy costs.
