What is a stem-and-leaf plot?
A stem-and-leaf plot is a simple way to display numeric data while keeping every original value visible. Each number is split into a ‘stem’ (all but the last digit) and a ‘leaf’ (the last digit), which are then grouped into rows by shared stem.
How this calculator works

The calculator rounds each value, groups them by their tens-digit stem, and reports how many distinct stems appear, which stem holds the most values (the most common leading digit group), and how many leaves fall on it, along with the minimum, maximum, mean, and count of your data set.
Stem-and-leaf plots work best for small to medium data sets and are commonly taught as an introductory data visualization method in statistics courses. For a full visual plot with every leaf listed, sketch the grouped values by hand using these stem counts as a guide.
