🍰 Cake Serving Calculator
Find out how many servings your cake pan will yield, using standard party-size or wedding-size slice dimensions.
How many servings does a cake yield?
This calculator estimates cake servings by dividing the total surface area of the cake by the area of a single slice. This is the same approach professional bakeries use to publish serving charts for round, square and rectangular cakes.
Choosing a slice size
A standard party slice is about 2 inches by 2 inches, a wedding-style slice is a thinner 1 inch by 2 inches (since wedding cakes are often served alongside other desserts), and a generous slice is closer to 3 inches by 3 inches. Choose the option that matches how your event will be served.
- Round pan area = π × radius²
- Rectangular pan area = length × width
- Servings ≈ cake area ÷ slice area
This is a general planning estimate; actual yield can vary depending on cake height, layers, and how slices are cut, so consider rounding up slightly for events with unpredictable serving sizes.
