What this calculator does
The Commute Calculator turns your daily drive into totals you can actually compare: how many hours a year you spend behind the wheel, how many miles you rack up, and roughly what it costs in fuel and wear on your vehicle.
How it works
Enter your one-way commute distance and your typical average speed (accounting for traffic, not just the speed limit). The calculator doubles your distance for a round trip, then multiplies by how many days a week and weeks a year you make the trip. Cost is estimated using a per-mile rate you can adjust to reflect fuel, maintenance, and depreciation.
This tool gives a general estimate for planning purposes. Actual time and cost will vary with traffic, weather, vehicle efficiency, and fuel prices.
