The paver calculator finds how many individual pavers you need to cover a patio, walkway, or driveway area, including extra for cuts and breakage.
The formula
Total area to cover is length times width. Each paver’s coverage area is found from its length and width in inches, converted to square feet (dividing by 144 square inches per square foot). Dividing total area by the coverage per paver gives the base count, and a waste allowance — typically 10%, more for complex patterns or curved borders — is added before rounding up to a whole paver.
Actual paver counts can vary with joint width and cutting pattern. It’s a good idea to order a few extra pavers beyond this estimate for future repairs.
