What this calculator does

This tool estimates how many boxes fit on a standard pallet, both per layer and in total, using simple grid (column-and-row) stacking of rectangular boxes. This mirrors how warehouse and logistics teams commonly estimate pallet loads before shipping.

How the math works

For boxes per layer, the calculator checks both possible box orientations on the pallet floor — lengthwise and rotated 90 degrees — by dividing the pallet’s length and width by the box’s dimensions and rounding down, then keeps whichever orientation fits more boxes. For the number of layers, it divides the maximum allowed stack height by the box height and rounds down. Total boxes per pallet is boxes per layer × number of layers.

  • This is a simple axis-aligned grid estimate; it does not account for interlocking or diagonal stacking patterns that can sometimes fit more boxes.
  • Always leave margin below your true maximum stack height for pallet stability and shipping/storage limits.
