This calculator estimates the expected loot value from a monster-hunting session in a game, combining random item drops with any guaranteed flat gold earned per kill.
How the calculation works
Expected item drops equal the number of kills multiplied by the drop chance (as a decimal). Multiplying that by the average value per dropped item gives the expected value from drops, which is standard probability-weighted expected value. Adding the guaranteed flat gold earned from every kill gives the total expected gold for the session.
This is an average, or expected, outcome based on probability — actual results in any single session will vary above or below this estimate due to randomness.
