What a mole ratio is
In a balanced chemical equation, the coefficients in front of each substance tell you the ratio in which moles of reactants combine and moles of products form. This ratio, called the mole ratio, is the basis of stoichiometry calculations.
The formula used
For a balanced equation containing substance A with coefficient a and substance B with coefficient b, the mole ratio of B to A is b:a. Given a known number of moles of A, the moles of B are found using moles of B = moles of A ร (b / a).
