How this calculator works

Microwave power directly affects cook time: a lower-wattage microwave needs longer to deliver the same amount of energy as a higher-wattage one, and vice versa.

The formula

Adjusted time = Original time × (Recipe’s wattage ÷ Your microwave’s wattage). For example, a recipe written for a 1000W microwave that calls for 3 minutes would need about 4.3 minutes in a 700W microwave.

This is a standard proportional estimate. Always watch food closely near the end of an adjusted cook time and check doneness, since actual results can vary with container material, food density, and moisture content.
