How this calculator works
LED bulbs use far less power than incandescent bulbs to produce the same amount of light. This calculator compares your old bulb’s wattage against an LED replacement across a year of typical daily use.
The formula
Annual energy (kWh) = Wattage ÷ 1000 × Hours used per day × 365 days × Number of bulbs. The calculator computes this for both bulb types, then multiplies the difference by your electricity rate to get your annual dollar savings.
This is a general estimate for planning purposes. It does not include the upfront cost of the bulbs themselves, which is typically recovered within the first year or two of use.
