What this calculator does
Most fantasy tabletop games use a coin system with platinum, gold, silver, and copper pieces. This calculator adds up a mixed pile of coins and expresses the total in any single denomination.
How the calculation works
It uses the standard 1:10:10:10 exchange rate found in most fantasy RPG rulebooks: 1 platinum piece = 10 gold pieces, 1 gold piece = 10 silver pieces, and 1 silver piece = 10 copper pieces. Everything is first converted to copper pieces (the smallest unit) and then divided back into whichever denomination you want to see.
Some game systems use different exchange rates, so check your specific rulebook if it varies from this common default.
