📈 Exponential Growth Prediction Calculator
Enter a starting amount, a growth rate per period, and the number of periods to project the future value under exponential growth.
What this calculator does
Exponential growth describes a quantity that increases by a fixed percentage each period, such as compounding interest, population growth, or viral spread. This calculator projects a future value from a starting amount, a per-period growth rate, and a number of periods.
How the calculation works
The formula is P(t) = P0 x (1 + r)^t, where P0 is the initial value, r is the growth rate expressed as a decimal, and t is the number of periods. When the growth rate is positive, the calculator also reports the doubling time, found using ln(2) / ln(1 + r), which is the number of periods needed for the value to double.
A negative growth rate models exponential decay instead of growth. This calculator is a general mathematical projection tool for planning and educational purposes — real-world quantities rarely grow at a perfectly constant rate indefinitely.
