How temperature conversion works

This calculator converts a temperature reading between the three most common scales: Celsius, Fahrenheit, and Kelvin. It first converts your input to Celsius as a common reference point, then applies the standard formula to reach your target scale.

The formulas used are the standard scientific definitions: Fahrenheit to Celsius is (F – 32) × 5/9, Celsius to Fahrenheit is C × 9/5 + 32, and Kelvin is always Celsius + 273.15 (Kelvin has no negative values below absolute zero, -273.15°C).

This tool is provided for general educational, cooking, and weather-related planning purposes. For laboratory-grade scientific work, use a calibrated instrument and verified reference constants.
