Waist to Height Ratio Calculator
Calculate your Waist-to-Height Ratio (WHtR), a quick screening measurement based on the idea of keeping your waist circumference below half your height.
What waist-to-height ratio measures
Waist-to-height ratio (WHtR) compares your waist circumference to your height. It is popular as a quick health screening tool because of its simple rule of thumb: keep your waist circumference to less than half your height.
How this calculator works
Enter your waist circumference and height in the same units. The calculator divides waist by height to get your ratio, then compares it to commonly used bands: below 0.40 may indicate underweight, 0.40 to 0.49 is generally considered a healthy range, 0.50 to 0.59 suggests increased health risk, and 0.60 or above suggests high risk, largely driven by excess abdominal fat.
Unlike waist-to-hip ratio, WHtR uses the same general thresholds for both sexes, which is part of why researchers have found it a convenient screening tool. This tool is for general educational and planning purposes only and is not a substitute for professional medical advice.
