What this calculator does
The vinyl fence calculator estimates how many fence panels and posts you need to enclose a given total fence length, plus any gates.
The formula
The number of panels is your total fence length divided by the panel width (commonly 6 or 8 feet), rounded up to the next whole panel since you can’t buy a fraction of one. Posts are needed at both ends of every panel run, so the post count is one more than the panel count, plus one extra post for each gate opening.
This is a general planning estimate. Corners, slopes, and gate hardware can change the exact panel and post layout, so confirm final quantities with your fence supplier before ordering.
