What is time and a half?
Time and a half is a common overtime pay rate equal to 1.5 times an employee’s regular hourly wage, typically paid for hours worked beyond a standard threshold such as 40 hours per week.
The formula
Time-and-a-Half Rate = Regular Hourly Rate × 1.5, and Overtime Pay = Time-and-a-Half Rate × Overtime Hours. Adding this to regular pay gives total earnings for the pay period.
This calculator is for general planning; actual overtime eligibility and rates vary by jurisdiction and employment classification.
