What relative frequency means
Relative frequency is the proportion (usually shown as a percentage) of the total observations that fall into a particular category. It lets you compare categories fairly even when the total sample size changes, since it standardizes every count against the same total.
How this calculator works
Enter the raw frequency count for each category (use zero for any categories you don’t need). The calculator adds up all the counts to get your total number of observations, then divides each category’s count by that total to get its relative frequency as a percentage.
Relative frequencies across all categories will always add up to 100%. This is a foundational calculation used before building frequency distribution tables, histograms, or pie charts. Provided for general educational purposes.
