What is molar solubility?
Molar solubility is the number of moles of an ionic compound that dissolve per liter of solution before the solution becomes saturated. It is derived from the compound’s solubility product constant, Ksp, and the stoichiometry of the ions it produces when it dissolves.
How this calculator works
For a compound AₘBₙ that dissociates into m cations and n anions, Ksp = (m·s)^m · (n·s)^n, which simplifies to Ksp = m^m · n^n · s^(m+n). This calculator rearranges that expression to solve for the molar solubility s = (Ksp / (m^m · n^n))^(1/(m+n)).
