Enter a Gregorian date to convert it into the Mayan Long Count, Tzolk’in, and Haab calendars.
How the conversion works
This converter first turns your Gregorian date into a Julian Day Number using the standard astronomical algorithm, then subtracts the widely-used GMT correlation constant (584283) to get the total count of days (‘kin’) since the Mayan creation date. That total is broken down into the Long Count units: Baktun (144,000 days), Katun (7,200 days), Tun (360 days), Uinal (20 days), and Kin (1 day) — read together as Baktun.Katun.Tun.Uinal.Kin.
The same day count also determines your position in the 260-day Tzolk’in cycle (a number 1-13 paired with one of 20 day signs) and the 365-day Haab cycle (a month index and day within that month).
Note: Several correlation constants have been proposed by different scholars; this tool uses the most widely cited GMT (Goodman-Martinez-Thompson) correlation.
