Converting inch-pounds to newton-meters
Inch-pounds (in-lb) and newton-meters (Nm) are both units of torque, the rotational force applied around an axis. The standard conversion factor is 1 inch-pound = 0.1129848333 newton-meters, derived from the definitions of the pound-force and the inch in SI units.
This calculator converts torque values in either direction using that exact factor, and also shows the equivalent in foot-pounds (dividing inch-pounds by 12), since torque specs are commonly given in all three units depending on the tool or manual.
This tool is intended for general reference and educational purposes. For critical fastener torque specifications, always follow the exact value and unit specified in the manufacturer’s service manual.
