What This Calculates

Hydrostatic pressure is the pressure exerted by a fluid at rest due to the weight of fluid above a given point. It increases linearly with depth and is fundamental to fluid mechanics, diving, and dam/tank design.

The Formula

P = P0 + ρgh, where P0 is the pressure at the surface (typically atmospheric pressure), ρ is fluid density, g is gravitational acceleration, and h is depth below the surface.

For general educational and planning purposes; assumes constant fluid density with depth.
