How this calculator works
This gas calculator estimates fuel needs and cost for a trip using your distance, your vehicle’s fuel efficiency, and the current gas price.
The formula
Gallons needed = Distance ÷ MPG. Total cost = Gallons needed × Price per gallon. Cost per mile is simply the total cost divided by the distance, which is handy for comparing trips or vehicles.
Actual fuel use varies with driving style, terrain, traffic, and vehicle load, so treat this as a helpful trip-planning estimate rather than an exact figure.
