How force conversion works

This calculator converts a force value between the units used in physics, engineering, and material testing. It converts your input to newtons (the SI base unit of force) first, then converts that value into your chosen output unit.

Standard defined constants are used: 1 pound-force = 4.4482216153 N, 1 kilogram-force = 9.80665 N (based on standard gravity), and 1 dyne = 0.00001 N. These match the accepted physics definitions for force unit relationships.

This tool is provided for general educational and planning purposes, such as comparing load ratings or tension specifications across unit systems.
