English Learning Time Calculator
Estimate how long it will take to reach your English proficiency goal based on your current level and study time.
How language learning time is estimated
Language education research, including guidelines referenced by the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) and language institutes such as the FSI and Cambridge English, commonly estimates around 200 hours of focused study to progress one full CEFR level (for example, from A1 to A2, or B1 to B2).
How this calculator works
The calculator finds how many CEFR levels lie between your current and target level, multiplies that by the standard 200-hours-per-level estimate to get total study hours needed, then divides by your weekly study hours to estimate how many weeks and months it will take.
This is a general planning estimate. Actual progress varies significantly based on your native language, study methods, immersion opportunities, and individual aptitude.
