What This Calculates

Torque and rotational speed together determine a motor’s power output. This calculator finds torque when power and speed (RPM) are known — useful when selecting or sizing an electric motor.

The Formula

T = P / ω, where ω = 2Ļ€ Ɨ RPM / 60 is the angular velocity in radians per second and P is power in watts. Equivalently, T = 9.5488 Ɨ P / RPM (T in NĀ·m, P in W).
