What Curie’s Law describes
Curie’s Law describes how the magnetic susceptibility of a paramagnetic material varies with temperature. As temperature rises, thermal agitation disrupts the alignment of magnetic dipoles, reducing the material’s magnetic susceptibility.
The formula
Curie’s Law states χ = C / T, where χ is the magnetic susceptibility, C is the material-specific Curie constant, and T is absolute temperature in kelvin. This inverse relationship means susceptibility drops off as a material heats up.
This calculator is for general physics and materials science education; it applies specifically to paramagnetic materials in the regime where Curie’s Law holds (not ferromagnetic materials near their Curie temperature transition).
