What this calculator does
This tool helps plan a board and batten wall by calculating how many vertical battens fit evenly across a wall at close to your desired spacing, plus how much batten material you need in total.
The formula
The calculator divides the wall width by the combined width of one batten plus your target gap, rounds to a whole number of gaps, and then evenly redistributes the leftover space so every gap ends up equal. Total linear footage is the number of battens multiplied by the wall height.
Actual spacing will differ slightly from your target so that battens land evenly across the wall — this is normal and expected in real installations.
