What angular acceleration measures
Angular acceleration describes how quickly the angular velocity (rotational speed) of a spinning object changes over time. It plays the same role in rotational motion that linear acceleration plays in straight-line motion.
The formula used
This calculator uses α = (ω_final − ω_initial) / t, where ω is angular velocity in radians per second and t is the elapsed time in seconds. A positive result means the rotation is speeding up; a negative result means it is slowing down.
This gives the average angular acceleration over the interval, assuming a constant rate of change. For general physics education purposes.
