What absolute humidity is

Absolute humidity is the actual mass of water vapor present in a given volume of air, expressed in grams per cubic meter, regardless of temperature. It differs from relative humidity, which is a percentage relative to what the air could hold at that temperature.

The formula

This calculator uses the Magnus formula to estimate saturation vapor pressure from temperature, then multiplies by relative humidity to get actual vapor pressure, and finally converts to absolute humidity: AH = 216.7 × (vapor pressure in hPa) / (T + 273.15), where T is in °C.
