What Delta-V Measures
Delta-v represents the total change in velocity a rocket can achieve by burning its propellant. It is the key metric used to plan orbital maneuvers and interplanetary missions.
The Rocket Equation
Δv = Isp × g₀ × ln(m₀/mf), where Isp is the engine’s specific impulse, g₀ is standard gravity (9.80665 m/s²), m₀ is the initial (wet) mass, and mf is the final (dry) mass after propellant is spent.
