Currency Rate Conversion Calculator
Enter an amount and the current exchange rate to instantly convert between two currencies, plus see the reverse rate for quick reference.
How this currency converter works
This tool performs a simple, transparent currency conversion: it multiplies the amount you enter by the exchange rate you supply to get the converted total. It does not fetch live market rates automatically — exchange rates move constantly throughout the trading day, so you should enter the current rate from your bank, card provider, or a live rate source at the time you need the figure.
The formula
The core calculation is straightforward: Converted amount = Amount × Exchange rate. The calculator also shows the inverse rate (1 ÷ rate) so you can see the exchange the other way around, and applies an optional percentage fee — common with card networks, bank transfers, and currency exchange counters — by subtracting that percentage from the converted total.
Why the rate you enter matters
Banks and money transfer services often use a less favorable (‘marked-up’) exchange rate than the wholesale interbank rate, effectively building their profit margin into the rate itself rather than charging a separate fee. For the most accurate real-world result, use the actual rate quoted by whichever provider you plan to use, and add any separate fee they disclose using the fee field.
- Use the mid-market rate for a neutral, fee-free comparison point.
- Use your bank or card issuer’s quoted rate to see what you would actually receive.
