What this calculator does

This tool calculates the concrete volume needed to form a staircase, treating each step as a stacked rectangular slab that grows taller with each riser going up from the base.

The formula

Each step’s volume is its cumulative height (rise × step number from the bottom) × run × width, and these are summed for all steps, then converted from cubic inches to cubic yards.

This assumes solid stairs poured on grade or over a solid sub-base, without accounting for a hollow understructure, forms, or a separate footing — add those materials separately as needed.
