What this calculator does
This calculator estimates how many string lights and ornaments you’ll need to decorate a Christmas tree, along with how much garland to buy, based on the tree’s height.
How the calculation works
It applies commonly cited decorating rules of thumb: roughly 100 mini lights and 15 ornaments per foot of tree height for a traditional look, and about 3 feet of garland per foot of height. A fullness setting scales these amounts up for a lusher look or down for a more minimalist one.
These are general decorating guidelines, not exact requirements — personal taste, ornament size, and tree shape (bushiness) will all affect how much you actually need.
