RPM to RCF Conversion

Relative centrifugal force (RCF), expressed as a multiple of Earth’s gravity (×g), tells you how much force a centrifuge rotor generates. It’s calculated from RCF = 1.118 × 10-5 × r × RPM2, where r is the rotor radius in centimeters (measured from the center of rotation to the sample).

Because RCF scales with the square of speed, doubling the RPM quadruples the g-force. Always use the radius to the point where your sample sits, not the overall rotor size, for an accurate figure. This calculator is intended for general reference and educational planning purposes.
