CD Calculator – Certificate of Deposit
Estimate how much a certificate of deposit (CD) will be worth at maturity based on your deposit, rate, and term.
What a CD calculator does
A certificate of deposit (CD) locks in a fixed interest rate for a set term in exchange for leaving your money on deposit until maturity. This calculator projects the value of your CD at the end of its term based on your deposit amount, the annual percentage yield (APY), the term length, and how often interest compounds.
The formula
The calculator uses the standard compound interest formula: Maturity Value = Principal × (1 + APY / n)^(n × t), where n is the number of compounding periods per year and t is the term in years. Interest earned is simply the maturity value minus your original deposit.
