What this calculator estimates

Bladder volume is commonly estimated non-invasively from three ultrasound-measured dimensions of the bladder, which is roughly ellipsoid in shape when full.

The formula used

This calculator uses the standard ellipsoid volume formula widely used for bladder scanning: Volume (mL) = Width × Height × Depth × 0.7, where all three measurements are in centimeters. The 0.7 correction factor accounts for the bladder’s shape compared to a perfect ellipsoid.
