📏 Range Calculator
Enter up to eight numbers to find the range (the difference between the highest and lowest values) of your data set.
What This Calculator Does
The statistical range is the simplest measure of how spread out a data set is: it is the difference between the largest and smallest values. Leave any of the optional value fields blank to exclude them from the calculation.
The Formula
Range = Maximum value − Minimum value. This calculator also reports the midrange, which is the average of the maximum and minimum values, giving a quick sense of the center of your data’s spread.
Why It Matters
Range is easy to compute and understand, but it only looks at the two extreme values and ignores everything in between, so it can be heavily affected by a single outlier. For a fuller picture of spread, pair it with variance or standard deviation.
