How this calculator works

This calculator finds the elapsed time between a start and end clock time, correctly handling the case where the end time falls on the next day (for example, an overnight shift from 10 PM to 6 AM).

Enter both times in 24-hour format. The calculator converts each to total minutes since midnight, subtracts the start from the end, and adds a full day (1,440 minutes) if the result would otherwise be negative, indicating the end time crossed into the next day.

This tool is for general scheduling use and does not account for time zone differences or daylight saving transitions.
