👔 Tie Length Calculator
Enter your height to find the recommended standard necktie length for the best proportions.
Why tie length depends on height
A well-proportioned necktie should reach the middle of your belt buckle when tied. Since taller people need more fabric to reach that point, neckties are manufactured in a handful of standard lengths matched to height ranges.
How this calculator works
This calculator uses the standard industry height brackets for tie length: under 5’4″ (163cm) calls for a Short tie (about 52″), 5’4″-5’8″ (163-173cm) calls for a Regular tie (about 57″), 5’8″-6’2″ (173-188cm) calls for a Long tie (about 61″), and over 6’2″ (188cm) calls for an Extra Long tie (about 65″).
Neck size and personal preference for knot size (a bulkier Windsor knot uses more fabric than a simple four-in-hand) can shift the ideal length slightly within a bracket.
This calculator gives a standard sizing recommendation for general shopping purposes; trying a tie on is always the best way to confirm proper length.
