What this calculator does

Subscript characters sit slightly below the normal text line, most commonly seen in chemical formulas (like the 2 in H2O) and mathematical notation. This generator produces real Unicode subscript characters rather than font-based formatting.

How it works

Pick digits and letters from the dropdowns. Each digit 0–9 has an official Unicode subscript form, and Unicode also defines subscript versions for a limited set of letters (a, e, o, x, h, k, l, m, n, p, s, t) used in phonetic and scientific notation.

Most consonants have no official Unicode subscript equivalent and are shown unchanged — this is a genuine limitation of the Unicode standard, not a bug in the conversion.
