What this calculator does
Most courses combine several grading categories, like homework, quizzes, a midterm, and a final exam, each worth a different share of the semester grade. This calculator combines them into one overall percentage.
How the calculation works
Each category score is multiplied by its weight, all of those products are added together, and the total is divided by the sum of the weights actually entered: Overall = Σ(score × weight) ÷ Σ(weight). For the cleanest result, make sure your weights add up to 100%, though the formula still works proportionally if they don’t.
The letter grade shown uses a common general scale (A 90+, B 80+, C 70+, D 60+); your school’s actual grading scale may differ.
